Lashing straps – holding your cargo correctly
Proper stability for your load
A lashing strap is a device for load securing that can be fixed to a lashing point in order to secure the cargo on road vehicles. A lashing strap consists of the lashing device (strap), the tensioning element (ratchet) and connecting elements (hooks).
Tensioning and lashing straps
It doesn’t look like much but secures loads of several tonnes in weight. There are two qualities of tensioning straps, also referred to as lashing straps.
The cheaper models from DIY stores are usually made from polypropylene. These models often have a load capacity of only 100 to 200 daN. In order to understand this in “lay terms”, 50 daN roughly corresponds to hand force when pulling apart.
High quality lashing straps that are also suitable for industry are made from polyester strip stock. They are suitable for a load capacity of up to 5000 daN and more. These tensioning straps are used in road, rail, air and sea traffic. The selection is immense. It is possible to order lashing straps in all possible lengths depending on requirements. Printing with company logos is also possible.
In addition to various lengths and load capacities, one-piece and two-piece strap versions are available. Furthermore, there is a wide choice of hooks for the two-piece straps. There is a suitable strap for every application.
With this wide choice of lashing straps it is important to know exactly what is needed. After all, the straps are often used for securing loads that should not shift or even be completely lost. The top priority therefore is knowing the exact purpose and above all the weight to be secured.
You will have noticed that lashing straps are a valuable element in load safety technology.
Possible applications:
Lashing down and direct lashing;
Ergonomic working that is easy on the back due to a fine-tooth pull ratchet
What is lashing down good for?
With lashing down, the lashing devices press the load onto the load surface.
This increases friction between load and load surface.
The additional friction holds the load on the load surface.

When must lashing straps be discarded?
Visual inspection
All lashing straps should always undergo a visual inspection before use!
